Opportunities for donors to attend Ampthill Park House Event

Have you ever wanted to see inside Ampthill Park House which has historic links to Henry VIII, Katherine of Aragon and Charles I among others – but in recent history has never been open to the public.

Ampthill Park House

The majestic house overlooks the Marston Vale but this historic landscape setting is now threatened by the proposed Covanta incinerator development.

The Grade II listed Ampthill Park House remains one of the few Grand Country Houses of Bedfordshire to have made it into the 21st Century in anything like its original form. Despite major alterations by Sir William Chambers in 1769 – it is still basically the house built by Cambridge architect Robert Grumbold in 1687-9 and completed by John Lumley of Northampton in 1704-6.

Sir Timothy and Lady Clifford who occupy the central part of the house are very concerned about the environmental impact of the Incinerator and have agreed to support our fighting fund by kindly agreeing to host an exclusive garden party on 3rd August 2019 as a thank you to our supporters or local businesses who make a donation of £1,000 towards the current fundraising total.

The visit will also include a private tour around their home with refreshments and an opportunity to meet and discuss the Covanta problem with Sir Timothy and Lady Clifford and other like-minded local residents opposed to an incinerator in this historic landscape.

Places for this unique event will be strictly limited to ensure a personal and comfortable experience for all participants.

All proceeds raised from the event will go toward the continuing legal case – Bedfordshire Against Covanta Incinerator vs the Environment Agency which has now received permission for a Hearing at the Court of Appeal in July 2019.

In addition to the direct route of a pair of free invitations as a thank you for donating £1.000 – we will also be offering complimentary invitations by random draws –  as a show of appreciation for the continued help on which we totally rely.

For every 20 lots of £50 donations that are received BACI will conduct a draw for a free pair of invitations to the event*.

At the end of the current Court of Appeal Hearing fundraising period – one final draw will be conducted where ALL other donations received (minimum £5) will be eligible*. The number of invitations available at this draw will be at least 2 pairs – dependent on the number of invitations already claimed
